Bunny eats Char Siu at Section 17

Hunny brought me to eat yummy charsiu at Happy Mansions (across from 6-to-10 Restaurant), Section 17 today. Luckily we reach there at 11.15am...bec after our orders were served, the crowd increased...
Hunny ordered a mixture of meats...
When the rice came, it was cooked with chicken stock...yummy...
The charsiu is the star here...roast pork belly is so-so and the roast chicken is forgettable...

It was so good that I made Hunny order another strip of char siu to eat as snack later....one strip was RM16 for half lean half fatty... RM17 for our meal of mixed char siu, roast pork belly and chicken. Next time will just take the char siu....yummy!!!

Bunny eats at Brother In Law's Place
My Nephew is back from Australia on semester break and we welcomed him home by having dinner at his house. My BIL (Bro In Law) is a great cook and an enterprising lawyer. We had yummy melt in the mouth stewed pork belly, vegies, chicken, home made steamed buns (mantao) and last but not least, my eldest sis made choc cake.
Here's my plate...veges to balance out the fattiness of the pork belly and a portion of soft chewy mantao...
A close-up of the delicious stewed belly...
My sis's choc cake with a spoonful of vanilla ice cream, a spoonful of yummy Bailey's Irish Cream Liquor and a spoonful of choc sauce made from marshmallows and mars bars...sinfully delicious...

A Trip Back To Hunny's Hometown...Kedai Makanan Lok Wee Koi
This is my favourite MUST-GO restaurant in Ipoh. They serve the best Pork Tummy Innards in White Pepper Lobak (white radish) soup with noodles~!
The Restaurant...
The Stall....
My Noodles....

Hunny's 2nd Round of Hor Hee Noodles...
This is also the restaurant which serves "Pang Dai Woon" which I blogged abt earlier...and is also famous for serving ice-cream soda which I have yet to try...

Bunny eats at Nambawan again Part 4
Last nite not knowing where to eat, we decided to go to Nambawan again. When we got there, the sifu was doing some serious charbroiling and roasting. Instead of sitting inside where we normally sit, we decided to sit outside. There were table settings for 12 pax on the inside. So that explained the rather stuffy condition in the cafe.
Hunny went straight for his regular fav whilst I was determined to try something new.I was wanting to eat some pasta but wasn't sure what to choose. The ladyboss then recommended the Amatriciana Pasta (RM8.90) which she also likes to eat and even more amazingly...her pet cat also loves to eat it too! I trusted her recommendation and when it came, I was initially put off by the Parmesan cheese smell as I am not a fan of strong smelling cheeses but after mixing everything in, it complemented the pasta beautifully. There weren't much sauce but the spaghetti was al-dente with bits of Pancetta bacon in it. The taste was just right...not too peppery nor sour.
Hunny's Roast Pork Belly (RM12.90) as usual tasted good but I wished he'd try something new so that I could blog more about it.
As I could see Hunny wasn't too full after the Roast Pork Belly and I was just right after the pasta, we decided to try the Oxford English Pork Sausage (RM11.90) as the ladyboss was always recommending to us. We were transfixed when the plate came. It looked really crispy on the outside. Hunny suddenly exclaimed "Oh My GOD!!!" as he was slicing the sausage into bite sized pieces for us to eat n I looked over....."WOWWWWWW....!!!!" ... the sausage was so so juicy!!! The juice came from the bits of cheese embedded within the not too finely minced meat. The sausage texture was really GOOD...very BEST!!! The minced meat still had some bite to it and wasn't oily at all. The herbs mixture was not too overpowering, the cheesey bits provided the yummy juiciness as we chewed away....we both agreed that these sausages were HEAVENLY...!!! The sausages were made freshly by the sifu's supplier whom he refused to reveal to us where he got them for. So we'll have to go back to Nambawan if we want to eat more of these succulent porky delights.
Hunny and I love the french fries here. We even asked for the roasted potatos in the Roast Pork Belly to be subsituted with french fries instead. Yum Yum! Can fight with Mc D fries but it's even better here as there is no oily aftertaste.
Last but not least, this is my mug of lemonade! It's really a huge mug of lemonade!!! Got real lemon juice in it! Tangy and sweet at the same time. Outside cannot find such a big mug of lemonade for only RM3.90!!!! Yummy!!!
We were lucky when we arrived at 7pm, the cafe was still relatively empty. When we left, they were almost full house. We were glad that they had customers after weeks of seeing it empty.
Total damage to Hunny's wallet was only RM39.48 (inclusive 5%) tax. So worth it!!! Where can find...clean surroundings, 3 main courses, 1 fresh fruit juice for this price???? Yummy!!!!

Valentine Porky Lunch at Nambawan Cafe

We really had no idea where to go for lunch today as all the shopping malls were really packed and other famous restaurants will be leeching us with expensive Valentine's meals today. Hence, Hunny and I went to Nambawan Cafe (at first when I read the spelling, I couldn't connect it to the restaurant...only when I read it aloud, it sounded like Number One!) at Taman Sri Manja, Old Klang Road for Valentine's Lunch as the shopping malls are packed.
I admit that I was very skeptical when we reached there as the cafe was empty! But once the food was served, I was very impressed.
1. See...so generous....3 long slices of roasted pork belly with crispy skin. Not too salty...just right tasting...outside cannot even get so much pork for RM12.90! Weekend Specials Roasted Pork Belly - served with side dishes of fresh salad, apple chutney sauce, brown gravy and roast potatoes...RM12.90
2. Thumbs up!

3. Gorgeous juicy meat with ultra crisp crunchy crackling skin.....
4. Pork Burger served with french fries...only RM6.90!!! Freshly made juicy patties...Hunny said it was very delicious and different from those supermarket bought processed meats..there was still the bite to the minced pork meat.

The meal was excellent and the price was very reasonable a we only paid RM26.57 for 2 mains plus 2 drinks. An absolute value for money albeit its location.
Anyone interested to makan but don't know how to get there, please leave me a comment and we can arrange for a TT lunch or dinner there...as getting there is rather daunting if you don't know the way to Taman Sri Manja, off Old Klang Road. If there are 6 or more who are interested in eating the Roast Pork Belly, do call 1 day ahead so that they can prepare it as the roast pork belly is their "Nambawan" best seller on weekends. You can also inquire if they can roast the pork belly specially for you if you decide to eat it on a weekday.

This really wins over Bellygood Restaurant in Sunway...ate there and didn't like it at all!!! Pricey and dry tough meat...I didn't even feel like blogging abt it...

Chao Yen at 1U New Wing

Hunny and I went to this pricey establishment located at 1U's new wing where Giant Hypermarket used to be. This restaurant serves teochew cuisine and serves alot of dishes be it ala carte or individual meals.
1. Hunny's Pork Intestine White Pepper Soup with Mee Suah. RM17.90
2. My Teochew porridge with scallops, dried oyster, vege and pork meat balls. This type of porridge is different from the cantonese style of cooking as it's like rice with soup. Cantonese styled porridge is rice that has been boiled for a few hours till it breaks down. The bowl came was very big..recommended for 2 person to share so that you can try more dishes. RM19.90
3. See my bowl of yummy goodness...clear and not oily at all. Sweet soup stock. Very hearty and tummy warming.

4. Yummy cold platter...with meat encased in gelatin, stewed pig ears and jellyfish marinated with sesame oil. Very Yummy! I love the gelatinuous bits with melt in mouth texture that bore traces of fermented beancurd (fu-yee in cantonese). Much better than Dragon-i's version. This is my 1st time eating pig's ear and it's so yummy. Tender yet crunchy.
5. So yummy the sesame oil infused jellyfish strips. Crunchy and delicious.
The total bill came up to RM76.00 for the 2 of us. Pricey. We will reserve this restaurant for future occasional treats.
Bak Kut Teh at Kampung Subang Baru
Yesterday Hunny brought me to eat Bak Kut Teh at Kampung Subang Baru. He was supposed to drive to Klang for our usual BKT but he had a headache and thus brought me to this restaurant instead. I am glad that he did so as the herbal soup was not oily at all! It came in a mixture of meat, ribs and spare parts. Nyam Nyam!
1. Claypot of non-oiliness herbal soup goodness
2. Rice with Pork Intestines. Nicely cleaned intestines
3. With an added piece of Pig tummy...tender yet chewy...just nice~
4. Sabah Vege to balance up the meal
The meal cost us RM23 with 1 claypot BKT (meat, spare ribs, fried beancurd puffs, button mushrooms, Intestines and Tummy), 2 rice and 2 chinese teas.

Pork Sunday
I had loads of pork to eat yesterday. My hunny initially wanted to bring me to eat Ampang Yong Tau Fu (Ampang is a place in KL whereby it's famous for its Fish Paste Stuffed Vegetables and Bean Curds) but he got lost halfway and we ended up eating at Taman Connaught (one of the suburbs in Cheras, KL).
Yong Tau Fu. The Vege stuffed with Fish Base was served in a light clear soup
Deep Fried Fish Paste Stuffed Beancurd and Wantans were served plain.
Roast Pork - Half Lean Half Fat

Pork Noodles Soup - ok only...I prefer the one near Taman Bahagia LRT Station.

For dinner, I had vinegared pork trotters and Char Kuey Teow...
Yummy Tender Lean Meats in a sweetish, sourish vinegar base. I found it not sour or gingery to my liking but it's a good attempt though.
Char Kuey Teow (Fried Flat Noodles). The see-hum (cockles) were huge, juicy and just nicely cooked. I felt the noodles didn't contain as much wok hei (high heat wok fragrance) as it should. I will order the salted fish fried rice next time.
